About Me

My name is Adam. I am a programmer from Australia.

This blog details my journey towards a radical, grass-roots Christianity. I write about the gospel (as I try more and more to understand it) and how it changes everything - not just our beliefs but our entire lives for God’s glory. And I write about our kingdom mission - to find the dark places in society and bring light to them. I am a big fan of the “missional Church”.

I believe in a radical, rebelious Jesus who raised the bar so high on discipleship it got Him killed. Jesus message was simple: as you are loved go and love others. As we have been transformed so we should help transform others. It is a hard standard to live up to. My guiding principal can be summed up in a quote by Jacques Ellul: “Christians should be troublemakers, Creaters of uncertianty, Agents of a dimension incompatable with society.”

I am part of an anonymous Christian community in Northern Brisbane. Quite unlike any other ‘church’ this one is forged around relationships with very few programs. It is built upon the study of the bible, a desire to affect society, and an increasing focus on discipleship.

I am emerging in so far as “emerging” describes a methodology for approaching spirituality (as opposed to “emergent” which describes a set of ultra-liberal beliefs such as relativism and universalism). However, I have an (little ‘o’) orthodox (generally Arminian) set of beliefs. Some of my beliefs are as follows (note: these are perhaps better described as beliefs which simply make more sense to me than the alternatives):
